TRANSFER NEWS: ARSENAL OPEN OFFICIAL TALKS WITH LEICESTER CITY TO SIGN HIGHLY RATED STAR

Arsenal have entered official negotiations with Leicester City over a potential summer transfer for highly-rated attacking midfielder

Arsenal have reportedly entered official negotiations with Leicester City over a potential summer transfer for highly-rated attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss
The 20-year-old joined Leicester from Belgian side Genk in August 2024 for £21 million and has emerged as a standout performer despite the Foxes’ inconsistent campaign. Known for his vision, creativity, and composure on the ball, El Khannouss has impressed scouts with his ability to dictate play and drive attacking transitions—qualities Mikel Arteta is keen to inject into his evolving Arsenal midfield.

With the futures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho uncertain, Arsenal are looking to build around a younger core. El Khannouss, who is seen as a versatile option capable of playing both as a No. 8 and No. 10, fits the club’s long-term strategy. The Gunners are reportedly preparing a formal offer in the region of €30 million, with negotiations already underway.

Leicester City have already been relegated to the Championship, and may be forced to cash in on their star midfielder. El Khannouss is unlikely to want to play second-tier football next season, and a move to the Emirates Stadium would offer him Champions League exposure and the chance to compete for trophies.

Napoli, Sevilla, and RB Leipzig have also expressed interest, but Arsenal are currently leading the race, boosted by Arteta’s strong record of nurturing young talent. The Spanish coach’s emphasis on technical ability, positional awareness, and tactical intelligence aligns well with El Khannouss’ skill set.

Although still developing aspects of his defensive game and physical presence, El Khannouss is viewed as a high-upside prospect who could thrive under Arsenal setup. His signing would add much-needed depth and creativity to Arsenal’s midfield, especially with the club aiming to compete on multiple fronts next season.

If completed, the deal would signal another step in Arsenal’s ambition to future-proof their squad and continue their upward trajectory under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal’s plan to compete in all competitions next season requires depth and rotation, especially in midfield. El Khannouss is adaptable, able to play as a No. 8 or a No. 10. His capability of operating between the lines alongside his capacity of quick ball progression makes him a perfect fit for Arteta’s high-possession system.
